Advanced Module Public Health in Nepal - Challenges and Opportunities, 2018

Date: 07 - 10.05.2018

Location: Patan, Nepal

Nepal, being a country with a strong public health system, was the focal point of the Advanced Module “Public Health in Nepal - Challenges and Opportunities”, which took place in Patan near Kathmandu from May 7th to 11th, 2018. The module was initiated by CIH PhD alumnus Deepak Paudel, who connected the Patan Academy of Health Sciences with the Center for International Health LMU as joint organizers of the module.
The participants from Asia, Latin America and Europe received an insight into various aspects that define Nepal’s public health system, like community-based approaches and Nepal being an example for a strong implementation of universal health coverage. One highlight was the field trip to a nearby community to investigate the community-approaches. To make the course complete, participants had the unique possibility to discuss current developments by taking part in a panel discussion with representatives from the Nepalese Ministry of Health.

Looking forward to next year’s Advanced Module “Public Health in Nepal” taking place in Patan, Nepal, from April 22 to 26, 2019 - Save the date!
