CIHLMU-PhD-Scholarships for Selected Candidates

Selected outstanding candidates for the CIH^LMU-PhD-Program that are official citizens of countries defined as Low-Income-Countries according to the country list in the online-registration- and application-tool will be eligible for a CIH^LMU-PhD-Scholarship. In addition, researchers from official CIH-partner-institutes may also apply for the scholarship.

Please note, that CIH^LMU Center for International Health does not fund research itself directly. Research expenses have to be covered by the researcher or the respective partner-institute, or by an already existing research project budget. Adequate funding for the research expenses themselves has to be secured and documented upon application for the PhD-Program.

 

Nationals of the following Low-Income-Countries will be eligible for the scholarship:

Eritrea	Liberia	Sierra Leone	India

 

In addition, persons employed or studying at existing partner-institutions of CIH^LMU in the following countries are eligible:

Bolivia	Chile	Peru	Tanzania
Brazil	Ethiopia	South Africa	Viet Nam

 

The scholarship covers the following items:

• One yearly return flight between the country of origin of the applicant (or the country where the research project is located) and Munich, Germany. For the total PhD-curriculum of three years, three return flights are thus included. Please note that all bookings are arranged by the administrative office of CIH^LMU.
• A monthly allowance of € 1000,- for periods spent in Munich, Germany
• A monthly allowance of € 500,- for periods spent abroad during research activities
• Mandatory health and liability insurance will be deducted from the above stated allowances
• Scholarship-students receive specific support on accomodation arrangements in Munich

The award of the scholarship is conditional on strong motivation and efficiency of the candidate. In case of disallowance of the scholarship due to inadequate behaviour, or abruption of the program on behalf of the candidate, the entire scholarship benefits may have to be refunded to CIH^LMU. This measure is subject to an individual assessment by the CIH^LMU-administration.

The award of the scholarship is limited to the regular three-year curriculum of the PhD-Program.
